The brief
An interior designer needed a straight-on view towards the fridge and an angled view down the narrow room, each in olive, stone and blue schemes applied to cabinets, skirting, walls and ceiling. The specification included a fridge in RAL 1015, marble worktops and splashbacks, bib taps, a named oven, shaker cabinets, and jars and bottles behind glazed doors.
Our approach
Three revision rounds between 31 March and 5 April 2023 lengthened and evened out the floorboards, widened the straight-on view, tightened the angled one, applied the RAL colour and redrawn handles to the fridge, corrected an olive green that had rendered too light, and removed the flowers, lamp, picture and cupboard lighting.
The result
Six renders, two angles in each of the three colourways, were completed on 5 April 2023.
One narrow room, three colour decisions
An interior designer needed a client to choose between three paint schemes for a scullery opening off a kitchen. Painting cabinets, skirting, walls and ceiling in a single colour is a bold step, and a swatch cannot show how it feels. The answer was six renders: a straight-on view towards the fridge and an angled view down the length of the room, each in olive, stone and blue. Everything except colour stays still, so the comparison is honest, and the client can put the three versions side by side and talk about rooms rather than tiles of paint.
Joinery, stone and metal in the specification
The designer's specification was detailed, and the renders follow it. Shaker-style cabinets run along the room beneath marble worktops and splashbacks, bib taps sit over the sink, a named oven is built in, and jars and bottles are lined up behind glazed doors. The fridge carries a RAL 1015 finish with redrawn handles. Light enters evenly so the three palettes can be compared without a brighter sun flattering one of them. In olive the room feels enclosed and rich, in stone it softens and opens, and in blue it turns cooler and airier, all from the same viewpoint.
Three revision rounds in a week
Between 31 March and 5 April 2023 the set went through three rounds. Floorboards were lengthened and evened out, the straight-on view was widened and the angled one tightened. The RAL colour and redrawn handles were applied to the fridge, an olive that had rendered too light was corrected, and flowers, a lamp, a picture and cupboard lighting were taken out to leave the joinery uncluttered. A colourway study rewards that patience, since a small drift in one scheme makes the others look unfair. All six renders were completed on 5 April 2023.
Briefing a paint-scheme comparison
Send the specification, the paint references (a physical sample is best, as screens differ), photographs of the room and your preferred viewpoints. Say which surfaces take the colour, because ceilings and skirting change the mood more than most people expect. Once the model exists, a further colour, handle finish or worktop is quick to add. We quote a fixed figure within one business day, show a draft with materials and lighting close to final, and include up to 4 revision rounds. A typical set takes 5 to 7 business days, assuming mark-ups come back within a day of each draft.
Questions
Interior: questions clients ask
Camera, lighting, floor, furniture and styling are locked, and only the paint changes. Any difference between images then comes from the colour itself and not from a shifted viewpoint or a brighter sun. Each scheme is matched to the exact paint reference you supply.
Yes, if you give us the reference or a physical sample. We set the material to match and check it in the render, as with the RAL 1015 fridge here. Screens vary, so confirm the final choice against a real sample before ordering paint or joinery.
Yes. Because the room is modelled once, adding another colour or a different handle finish means swapping a material and rendering again. We confirm what is included in a fixed quote within one business day, and up to 4 revision rounds apply, assuming mark-ups come back within a day of each draft.
