The brief
A furniture brand wanted its range shown in styled rooms rather than photographed: a sofa, coffee table, armchair, bar stool and lamp for the living room; a table, chair, pendant and a full room scene for dining; and a bed, chair and lamp for the bedroom.
Our approach
Each piece was modelled and placed in one of three room sets. On review the brand asked for a sharper background in the living scene, a less cartoon-like finish on the furry armchair, and curved rather than angled arms on the bedroom chair with its colour warmed from grey to cream, and all three changes were made the same day.
The result
The first issue went out on 18 January 2023 and the corrected visuals on 26 January, four of the twelve needing no change.
A range shown in rooms, not on white
A furniture brand wanted its range shown in styled rooms and not photographed. These twelve visuals cover a sofa, coffee table, armchair, bar stool and lamp for the living room; a table, chair, pendant and a full room scene for dining; and a bed, chair and lamp for the bedroom.
That is the quiet strength of product rendering. One set of models can produce a wide living-room scene, a close view of a leg detail and a top-down frame of a table surface, all under matching light, without booking a studio or shipping prototypes. The same room sets can be extended as the range grows.
Honest materials, three room sets
The range leans on natural materials. A cream tufted sofa and a sheepskin-style armchair on a timber frame bring texture to the living scene, beside a round coffee table with a woven cane inset. The dining set pairs a walnut-topped table on a sculptural black base with chairs in rust leather and walnut shells with cream trim, set against a rough stone wall.
The camera changes the job each image does. A wide view shows the whole living room; a low angle on a chair lets tapered legs and brass tips carry the picture; a tight overhead frames the coffee table and a vase. Glass pendants pick up warm reflections, and shallow focus keeps backgrounds quiet.
Review notes that were made the same day
Each piece was modelled and placed in one of three room sets, with lighting set once per room so everything shot there shares a mood. The first issue went out on 18 January 2023. On review the brand asked for a sharper background in the living scene, a less cartoon-like finish on the furry armchair, and curved rather than angled arms on the bedroom chair, with its colour warmed from grey to cream.
All three changes were made the same day, and the corrected visuals were issued on 26 January, with four of the twelve needing no change at all. Because the room sets are built once, a late change to one product leaves the others untouched.
Extending the range later
Once a room set exists, additions get easier. Upholstery or timber colourways can be swapped without rebuilding the scene, a new lamp can be placed in an existing room, and clean cut-outs on white can be produced for online shops beside the styled views.
Our 3D product rendering service works from supplier CAD, dimensions and photographs. Delivered at 4K, the same files serve a printed catalogue, a web shop and social channels, and the quote for each addition is fixed within one business day. Brands often add a hero image for a stand or a showroom wall once the first range is signed off, and because the room sets and lighting already exist, that extra image is built from the same assets and sits naturally beside the rest.
Questions
Product renders: questions clients ask
For most ranges, yes. Rendered scenes can match catalogue photography and work well when pieces are still prototypes or samples. We model from your references, so accuracy depends on the dimensions, finishes and photographs you supply, and the draft shows how close we are.
We work from your drawings, dimensions, material samples and photographs, then compare the draft against them. Up to four revision rounds tune details such as the curve of a chair arm or the softness of a fabric, assuming mark-ups come back within a day of each draft.
Yes. Existing room sets and lighting are reused, so a new colourway or product can be added without rebuilding the scene. We confirm the cost in a fixed quote within one business day, and the new images match the originals in light, camera and mood.
